1,000th Unit Milestone For Sime Darby Industrial’s Malaysian-Made Terberg Terminal Tractor

A total of 1,000 Malaysian-made Terberg terminal tractors has been manufactured and distributed by Sime Darby Industrial (SDI) around the Asia Pacific; and exported to destinations as far as China, Turkey and Morocco.

The technical collaboration between our European Principal, Terberg Benschop B.V, and SDI’s manufacturing subsidiary, Tractors Manufacturing & Assembly, has helped build the brand and reputation of Malaysian-made Terberg terminal tractors. They are viewed as quality and reliable vehicles for ports, backed by excellent service support.

In a special ceremony, Malaysia’s Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP) in Johor, recently accepted the 1,000th locally manufactured Terberg as part of its latest consignment of 80 units ordered from Terberg Tractors Malaysia, the SDI subsidiary that markets the vehicles. PTP is the company’s largest fleet customer of Terberg terminal tractors. The journey of the terminal tractors with PTP began in October, 2002, with an initial delivery of 33 units.

The milestone event was marked with the unveiling of the 1,000th terminal tractor and the handing over of a mock-key to Ir. Muhammad Shafeeq Wilson, PTP’s Senior General Manager, Project Division, by Mr K.S. Chong, the Managing Director of Sime Darby Industrial Sdn Bhd. The event on February 2, 2010, was witnessed by SDI’s partners from Holland, which included founding family member and director, Mr George Terberg, and Mr Jaap Vaandrager, another Board member from Terberg Benschop in Holland.

In his keynote address, Mr Chong thanked PTP for its loyal support. He said the Port continues to be the benchmark for many container terminals. “PTP is one of the most modern and organized ports in the region today, with the latest equipment and a user-friendly state-of-the-art infrastructure for delivering fast, reliable and efficient world-class service,” said Mr Chong.

He added that Terberg Tractors Malaysia was committed to providing even greater value and quality service support to meet the port’s high expectations and deliverables to its worldwide customers. This included offering a comprehensive maintenance service for the Terberg fleet running in PTP.

Mr. K.S. Chong thank PTP’s continuous support and assured that Terberg Tractors Malaysia Sdn.Bhd is committed in providing quality service support to meet the port’s high expectations in his keynote address at the handing over ceremony.

In a symbolic gesture, Mr. K.S.Chong handing over the mock key to the 1000th Terberg Terminal Tractor to Ir. Muhammad Shafeeq Wilson, PTP’s Senior General Manager, Project Division, receiving on behalf of PTP Port.

As a token of appreciation for attending the handing over ceremony, and continues support given by PTP Port, Mr. K.S.Chong gave a plaque with Terberg Terminal Tractor drawing to Ir. Muhammad Shafeeq Wilson, PTP’s Senior General Manager, Project Division, who received it on behalf of PTP. Also present Mr. George Terberg, Director of Terberg Benschop, Mr. Jaap Vaandrager, Director of Terberg Benschop, and Mr. Yoong Kee Sin, Senior Vice President Strategy, Sime Darby Industrial Sdn.Bhd.
